While there are some differences between the construction of a straight and a curved lift, curved systems are not more complex.  They simply use different technology.

Yes, curved rails are custom crafted for your particular stairs.  However, the power unit and seat (which can be as much as half the cost) can be reused in another location.

The used value argument is a very weak one.  Used stairlifts generally have very little value as there are numerous costs to the dealer in removing, refurbishing, testing and re-selling the lift.  Never choose two straight lifts because of this reason.

This is simply not true and there are no statistics to prove this claim.  Sterling’s parent company, Minivator, has been using the same curved system for many years with only minor changes along the way.  We wouldn’t have used it for so long if it wasn’t reliable!

Most stairways requiring a curved lift can be surveyed within an hour and your lift will usually be delivered within a month.  This is just what you would expect, if not quicker, than any piece of custom furniture.

Further more, Sterling Stairlifts offer curve options that enable you to park your stairlift away from the top and bottom of stairs to offer you an even neater solution.  This is something you can never do with a straight rail system.

Two straight lifts are a good solution in some situations and we are not suggesting that they should never be used this way.  We are simply asking you to be wary of the motives of those trying to steer you away from a curved system.

If you decide on two straight lifts be sure you can comfortably transfer from one seat to another mid-journey.  Remember it’s always more convenient, and for some, more safe, to be able to get on at one end and off at the other.
